Karen K St John, 83, of Mattoon, Illinois passed away at 11:10 PM Friday, January 2, 2026 at Willow Breeze Hospice.
Karen was born May 23, 1942 to Edward and Dorothy (Gosney) Moore. She married Robert E. “Bob” St John July 18, 1993.
Karen is survived by her children: Karl (Myra) Thornton of Gays, IL, Donna (Bill) Daigh of Virginia Beach, VA, 5 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sisters: Jannice (Gene) Collins of Herrick, IL, and Rebecca (Rick) Markel of Westville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Ruth Albin.
Karen spent her career as an x-ray technician at a number of area clinics.
She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon, IL and the church’s quilt ministry, the Mattoon Moose Lodge. Karen loved quilting, fishing with her son, tending to her lawn, and helping her son find Hot Wheels. She loved spending time with her family and watching her many great grandchildren.
A Celebration Of Life will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Broadway Christian Church, 1205 S 9th Street Mattoon, IL 61938. A Visitation will be Wednesday January 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM until service time also at the Church. Inurnment in Janesville Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Cancer Center.
