Bradley Mac “Brad” Kessler (66) of Effingham, formerly of Stewardson

Bradley “Brad” Mac Kessler, 66, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Stewardson, IL, passed away peacefully at 7:20 p.m. on January 2, 2026, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, surrounded by the love of family.

Brad was born on April 30, 1959, the son of the late Glen and Karol Kessler. He was a 1977 graduate of Stewardson-Strasburg High School. Brad married Christine Garlock on March 20, 1987, they were blessed with two children, Aaron and Summer. Brad was a truck driver for over 30 years with much of that time driving for Moomaw Grain Elevator hauling to other local grain elevators. He enjoyed watching old western movies/shows, TV Land shows, Oliver tractors, tractor pulls, Illini basketball and football. Brad was a member of Washington United Methodist Church in Mode and then eventually Stewardson United Methodist Church.

He is survived by son, Aaron (Laura Tiffel) VanScyoc of Watson; daughter, Summer (Marc King) of Effingham; grandchildren, Douglas King of Visalia, CA, Brittany (Joey) Meyer of St. Charles, MO, Kaleb (Allison) VanScyoc of Effingham, and Jacob (Destiny) VanScyoc of Charleston; greatgrandchildren, Madison and Tydus Meyer and Adriana and Kaeson VanScyoc; brothers, Allen
(Geannine) Kessler of Shumway and Tim (Patty) Kessler of Mode; best friends, Cary (Barb) Storm, Brad (Kathy) Montgomery, and Gary (MaryLou) Brehmer.

Preceding him in death were his parents Glen and Karol Kessler, his wife Chris and his daughter-in-law Angela VanScyoc.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson with Pastor Steve Harder officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery.
