Gladys Loraine Beals, 92, of Stewardson, IL, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Willow Breeze Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice House, Mattoon, IL, surrounded by the love of her family.
Gladys was born on September 21, 1933, in Toledo, IL, a day that marked the beginning of a long and beautiful life filled with joy, generosity, and deep love for others. Born with a vibrant spirit and a gift for making others feel welcome, Gladys embraced life with joy, grace, and a deep appreciation for the people around her. She married Ralph Kenton Beals on May 14, 1955, in Toledo, IL. She loved listening to jazz music, hosting gatherings, and creating warm, memorable moments for family and friends. Entertaining was one of her greatest pleasures, and her home was always filled with laughter, good music, and the company of those she loved.
Gladys had a passion for travel and especially enjoyed bus trips and visits to the Fox Theatre to see live shows. She also took great pride in working in her yard, tending to her flowers, and decorating her home with care and creativity. Gladys worked at GE in Mattoon and Beals Motors.
Gladys is survived by her loving children, Victoria Beals of Stewardson, IL, Michael Beals (Teresa) of Stewardson, IL, Tim Beals (Susie) of Strasburg, IL, Jim Beals (Sandia) of Ruby, SC, and Christy Molzen (Reid) of Sullivan, IL; brother, Max Gentry of Florida; twelve grandchildren, Chris Beals, Josh Beals, Lacey Stigers, Brittany Kirkley, Jamie Trigg, Courtney Koch, Kacie Pankau, Mitch Molzen, Ty Molzen, Alicia Valdez, Milah Thomas and Cora Beals; and a proud great grandmother to 16 great grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ivy (Ingram) Gentry; husband, Ralph Beals; and her nine siblings.
Gladys will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of beauty and music, her welcoming nature, and the way she made every gathering feel special. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the laughter she shared, and the family she lovingly raised.
Private graveside services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL.
