Kevin Scott Roberts, age 52, of Farina, Illinois passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, December 5, 2025 in the peaceful tranquility of his home.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois Rev. Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Interment will be at Farina Cemetery. Kevin was born on October 18, 1973, in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of John and Susan (Rubin) Roberts. He married Julie Horner on July 29, 2006, at Lake of the Ozarks, MO. Kevin lived a life rooted in hard work, deep loyalty and the joy he found in the people and places he loved most. A proud business owner, he operated Prairieland Underground and carried forward the legacy as a third-generation farmer of Roberts Farms. His work ethic, determination and commitment to the land were hallmarks of who he was. He was a devoted husband of Julie and the loving father of three amazing children, who were the center of his world. He cherished every moment spent together- whether at home, cheering at sporting events or relaxing at the family’s lake lot with friends and loved ones. He had a passion for sports, fireworks and enjoying a cold beer while sharing stories and laughs. He was a kid at heart who adored Disney and never turned down a roller-coaster ride. His sense of fun, adventure and joy was contagious. A member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, his faith and his community were important parts of his life. He leaves behind a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends who will miss him dearly. Kevin will be remembered for his generous heart, humor and dedication to his family and work. He made every gathering brighter.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Roberts of Farina; daughters, Alexis (Griffen) Sanders of Ramsey, Reagan Roberts (Deytin Parker) of Farina; son, Rubin Roberts of Farina; parents, John and Sue Roberts of Farina; mothers-in-law, Sue (Brent) Schwarm of Vandalia; Brenda Horner of Newton; sister, Julie (Tony) Farthing of Farina; brother-in-laws, Brent (Michael) Horner of Edwardsville, Brad (Sarah) Horner of Newton; nephews, Evan and Bryant Farthing, Cole Horner, Maddox Horner, Maverik Horner.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stan and Arlene Roberts and Alvin and Ruth Rubin, and father-in-law, Dick Horner.
