Dorothy Dianne White, affectionately known as Dee Dee to her loved ones, passed away at the age of 73 on November 13, 2025, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Born on August 6, 1952, in Shelbyville, Dee Dee was the daughter of Jesse R. and Velma (Jones) White. Dee Dee’s life was marked by her unwavering spirit and dedication to her family, friends, and country. She proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After her military service, Dee Dee returned to her roots in Shelbyville, where she became an integral part of the community. Her work with the City of Shelbyville, her time as a lifeguard at the local pool, and her commitment to caring for others through home health care showcased her deep compassion and sense of service. A true athlete at heart, Dee Dee’s passion for sports was undeniable. She played softball with vigor for the JD Transit Team and instilled her love of the game in others as a coach for the Boomerangs. Her competitive spirit also shone brightly in the Shelbyville Bowling League and within the ranks of the Shelbyville Horseshoe Club. Beyond the thrill of competition, Dee Dee found joy in the simple pleasures of life: the laughter of children, the companionship of her dogs, the tranquility of the outdoors, and the cherished moments with her extended family. She also enjoyed collecting unicorns and Pepsi memorabilia. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew her.

She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy: her sisters, Kelsey White and Betty Richardson; her adored nieces and nephews, Dustin White, Danica (Jason) White, Brandy Stiff, Beleena (Josh) Boehm, Nina (Matt) Clark, Christopher (Kersyn) White, Jesse (Miranda) White, Danny Richardson, and Dana Richardson; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and her special friend, Tammy Skinner from West Virginia. Dee Dee’s life was enriched by the relationships she nurtured, and she will be remembered as a pillar of strength and love within her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her brothers, Daniel and Bud White, her niece, Deanna Richardson, and her best friend, Nig. Their reunion is a comforting thought for those who find solace in the belief that loved ones are never truly apart.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors by the Shelby County Honor Guard.
