Rachel Faith Reed, a beacon of love and happiness, passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on November 8, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Born on September 1, 1982, in the vibrant city of Kampala, Uganda, Rachel’s life journey brought her across continents and into the hearts of many. Her warm smile and generous spirit will be
forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Rachel was the cherished daughter of Stanley Ssemakalu (deceased) and Betty Nattumba. Her formative years in Uganda instilled in her a profound appreciation for her heritage, which she carried with her throughout life. Rachel and Kevin Reed were married on February 10, 2017, followed by a cultural wedding in Uganda on January 20, 2018. A lifelong learner, Rachel’s intellectual pursuits led her to Lake Land College in Mattoon, where she earned her associate degree in medical coding. Her passion for helping others in need guided her to further her education with a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies. One of Rachel’s proudest moments came in July 2023 when she became a United States citizen, embracing the responsibilities and opportunities that came with this new chapter. Rachel’s zest for life was evident in her love for travel. She collected magnets from each state she visited, a
colorful mosaic of memories that adorned her home and brought her joy. These tokens were more than souvenirs; they were symbols of the experiences and connections she made along the way.

Rachel leaves behind her mother, Betty; husband, Kevin and his son Dylan; her sons, Denzel and Daville; her brother Richard, his wife Flora and their daughters Faith and Reine; her in-laws, Jim and Cheryl Reed; her brother-in-law, Ashley Reed, his wife Lydia and their daughter Rosemarie and extended family members. Each relationship was treasured, and her role as a daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend was performed with an unwavering dedication that inspired all who witnessed it.

A private memorial service to honor Rachel’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Memorials in Rachel’s honor may be given to the donor’s choice. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family. Family and friends are invited to light a candle or share a story at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com.
