Justin Lee Young, 44, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away Friday November 7, 2025 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.
Justin was born August 6, 1981 in Decatur, Illinois son of Tommy and Karen (Schmitt) Young. Justin was a proud fourth generation Foundryman for Decatur Foundry in Decatur, Illinois. He was a Decatur Flames Youth Hockey and Baseball coach; was a devoted fan of San Francisco 49ers Football, San Francisco Giants Baseball and St. Louis Blues Hockey teams. Justin also loved spending time with family and friends.
Justin is survived by his significant other, Tracey Hardesty of Mattoon, Illinois and her son, Logan Hardesty of Charleston, Illinois; son, Mason Young (special friend, Paige Lawhead) and granddaughter, Rylei Young all of Decatur, Illinois; parents, Tommy and Karen Young of Millstadt, Illinois; brother, Jeremy Young of Eugene, Oregon; sister, Jennifer (Jimmy) Watkins of Millstadt, Illinois; nieces, Benton and Briley Watkins of Millstadt, Illinois; aunts, Connie (Jeff) Heinz of Forsyth, Illinois and Carol (Larry) Stevens of Hannibal, Missouri; Uncles, Terry Young of Mt. Zion, Illinois and Steven (Joy) Schmitt of Quincy, Illinois; grandmother, Rita Schmitt of Quincy, Illinois; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Barbara Young and Bruce Schmitt;
Justin gave the gift of life through tissue donation so that others can be saved.
As per Justin’s wishes Cremation Rites will be accorded and there will be a Celebration Of Life at a later date.
