Matthew D. Matlock age 39, of Effingham, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at The Potter’s House Ministry in Newton, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to share in a carry-in dinner following the service.
Matthew was born on March 2, 1986, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Ken and Rose (Guidry) Maxwell. He married Mareese Bennett. For several years, Matthew worked for Toyota in Lawrenceville.
Matthew enjoyed camping and playing on-line games. He enjoyed spending time with his friends. Matthew loved helping people in need.
Matthew will be loved and remembered by his parents, Ken and Rose Maxwell of West Liberty; grandmother, Ruby Matlock of Church Point, LA, son, Alexzander Gabriel Matlock; granddaughter, Lilith Rose Matlock of Wheeler; brothers Joseph Glenn Guidry, wife Melody of Corning, NY, Kevin Jude Matlock, wife Daisy of Lawrenceville and Jed Maxwell of West Liberty and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Basil D. Matlock, Sr., Gwen King and Lloyd Guidry and his great grandparents.
Memorials may be made to the Crain Funeral Home, 304 S. Van Buren St., Newton, IL 62448 to assist the family with expenses.
