Richard A. “Dick” Runde (73) of Teutopolis

Richard A. “Dick” Runde, 73 of Teutopolis, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 3:30 pm, with visitation being held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to the Teutopolis Civic Club. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.
Dick was born February 4, 1952 in Flora, the son of Herman and Luella (Worman) Runde. He married Debra Jansen on April 29, 1978. Dick graduated from the University of Illinois in 1974 with a degree in history. He then attended John Marshall Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1977. After law school, he returned to Teutopolis and accepted a position with the law office of F. Ronald Ealy before becoming an Assistant State’s Attorney in 1979. Dick was elected Effingham County State’s Attorney in 1984. He later became a member of the firm Meyer, Keller, and Runde, and in 1993 partnered with Rick Keller to form the Keller and Runde firm. The two maintained that practice until merging with Orr Law, LLC, in 2015. Dick retired shortly thereafter.
Dick is survived by his wife, Deb of Teutopolis; children, Julie (Josh) Althoff, Dennis (Kimberly) Runde, Theodore (Jenn) Runde, and Tim (Kelsey) Runde, all of Teutopolis and Anne (Taylor) Kottmann of Edwardsville; siblings, Dr. Charles W. (Vera) Runde, Larry (Sue) Runde, and Barb Runde; 13 grandchildren and several Jansen in-laws.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Kenneth; father and mother-in-law, Reuben and Angela Jansen.
