Carol Sue Matson was born December 2, 1944 to Carl and Helen Matson in Shelbyville Illinois. She passed away on October 3rd in Houston TX.
Carol was musically gifted as a child, playing both the piano and the saxophone. She excelled in school and graduated second in her class at Beecher City High in 1962. Carol was an amazing seamstress with her proudest moment and most cherished accomplishment being the making of her daughter’s wedding dress. Carol always took pride in being a hard worker. She started working at the Beecher City Journal at the age of 14 and unknowingly started a lifetime and successful career in rhe printing industry. When technology changed in the industry she went back to college as a single mom and got her degree in data processing. She continued to work full-time until she was almost 79 years old.
Carol was pre deceased in death by her two sons Ronald Matherly and Robert Matherly, also both of her parents, two sisters, Mary Ellen Crose and Ruth Ann Dennis, and two brothers, Jim Matson and David Matson.
She is survived by her daughter Margie Toles in Springfield Vermont, son Richard Matherly of Houston TX, sister Linda Bryant Blackerby of Houston, brother Bill Musson in Arizona, 3 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on November 15 at 1pm at the United Methodist Church in Beecher City Illinois.
We are all so sad to lose her, yet we rejoice in knowing that Carol’s days of suffering are over and she finally has peace in the loving arms of Jesus.
