Annabelle “Ann” Louise Bock, 87, of Shumway, Illinois, passed away in the early morning hours of October 4, 2025, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
She was born in Waukegan, Illinois, to Josephine Majewski. At the age of six, Ann’s mother passed away from tuberculosis, and Ann was adopted by her aunt Renee Fauria, and raised in Long Beach, California alongside Dane Wagner. Ann graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1955. In 1960 she married Tom Bird, and together they had two children, Kristi and Kelli. Ann loved being a homemaker, taking care of her family and she was a fabulous cook. Ann met and married Clarence F. “Corky” Bock in southern California in 1971, gaining two children, Heidi and Frank. As Corky’s trucking career took them through Fresno, Sacramento, Napa and Fairfield, California, Ann moved with them and supported the family not only at home but by working in trucking logistics, Walmart Garden Center, and attending swap meets on the weekends with Corky to support their family. Ann dedicated her life to Corky, her husband of 49 years, and their four children. She loved her family and her dogs, traveling across the United States and Mexico; especially enjoying the beach. She found joy in gardening, flowers, feeding her birds, crafting, spending time with her grandchildren and celebrating the holidays together. After Corky retired in 1999, they moved back to Shumway, Illinois to spend time with Corky’s mother and extended family. Ann was Corky’s right hand and supported him in all his investments and real estate endeavors. They both were members of Shumway United Methodist Church.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Kristi Ross and Kelli Ward of California, and Heidi Nielsen (Doug) and son, Frank Bock (Diann) of Indiana; grandchildren, Nick Ward and his four daughters and one son of California; Morgan Holomy (Matt) and their soon-to-be three sons, Lauren Spencer (Riley) and their son, and Madison Keith (Hunter) and their two daughters, all of Indiana.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love, support, and cherished memories shared. A celebration of Ann’s life will be held in the Spring of 2026, her favorite time of year. Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family. Family and friends are invited to light a candle or share a story at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
