                    Ervin Leon Starwalt, 95, of Toledo, IL passed away at 4:47 am on Monday September 22, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Toledo. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Beals Cemetery in rural Trilla, with Military Rites by the Cumberland County Veterans. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family.
Ervin was born on May 26, 1930, to Roy E. and Myrtle (Bennett) Starwalt, in Morton, IL. He married Sue Cordes on August 31, 1956, in Toledo, IL and she preceded him in 2013.
Survivors include three children Michael Starwalt, Cindy Starwalt, Ronald Starwalt; brother Kenneth (Wanda) Starwalt; sister Carolyn Burell; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, daughter Jennifer Overturf; brothers Harold, Charles, and Darrell Starwalt; sisters Virginia Merri Weather, Thelma Gooch, and Marilyn Morgan.
Ervin, Airman 1st Class, served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He was employed as a truck driver at Stevens Industries in Teutopolis for three years and subsequently worked for Sunbelt Transport in Orlando, Florida for two decades. Ervin was an active member of several organizations, including the Greenup VFW, the Toledo American Legion, and the Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Toledo, where he performed maintenance and cleaning services for over twenty years. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association. A five-time Illinois State Horseshoe Pitching Champion, Ervin was also inducted into the Hall of Fame.
