Kenneth L. Tipsword, 77, of Edgewood, died at 6:00 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, Altamont with Lowell Donnelley and Bill Weaver officiating. Burial with military rites by Gieseking-Schwertdfeger V.F.W. Post #7676, Altamont will follow at Moccasin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to services. All services will be held at the church. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kenny was born on Wednesday, September 8, 1948, in Peoria to Wallace and Mary Alice (Doty) Tipsword. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Connie E. Hites on March 23, 1974. In 1987, they were blessed with a son, Edwin. Kenneth was a member of the First Baptist Church, Altamont. He also belonged to the Gieseking-Schwertdfeger V.F.W. Post #7676, Altamont, where he served as commander for a time, and the American Legion Post #1115, Spring Bay. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. Additionally, he liked doing woodworking projects with his son and father-in-law. In his later years, he regularly attended his grandchildren’s many activities. After retirement, he was a regular fixture for coffee where many problems were solved.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Connie of Edgewood; son, Edwin (Kayla) Tipsword of Shelbyville; brother, Dennis Tipsword of Spring Bay; sister, Linda (John) Bennett of Kaiser, MO; 3 grandchildren, Destiny, Bravery, and Carter.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and his close uncle, Garry Tipsword.
