Gerald Francis “Jug” Brown (84) of Sebring, Florida

Gerry (Jug) Brown passed away Thursday, August 21st , in Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Florida. He suffered from a long illness. He was 84.

Born on April 5, 1941, in Effingham, Illinois to Doris (Rathgeber) Brown and Eugene Brown. He was one of eight brothers.

Gerry served honorably in the United States Army as a MP. He returned home and began a lifelong career with Illinois Consolidated Phone Company. There he served in Data Processing, Purchasing and Public Services.

He was a very avid golfer. It was a hobby he enjoyed as a member over the years at the Mattoon Country Club, Effingham Country Club and Sun N Lake Golf Club. Traveling to golf tournaments around the state of Illinois, playing with his foursome of many years in Myrtle Beach and organizing many other games was his joy in life.

Gerry married Angela (Strawn) Brown in 2009 after a very long engagement of 14 years. They enjoyed Gardening, taking care of their pets and traveling around their adopted state of Florida finding good lunch places.

He is survived by his wife, Angela, brothers Dennis Brown and Gaylen Brown and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by parents Eugene and Doris Brown, Brothers; Larry Brown, Ron Brown, Noble Brown, Lynn Brown and Royce Brown.
