Jerry Florey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, just one day shy of his 82nd birthday, at home surrounded by the love of family.

Jerry was born on August 25, 1943, in Cass City, Michigan, the son of Lute and Cora (Lawrence) Florey. Jerry’s life was one of dedication to his family, hard work, and a love for the simple joys of the great outdoors. On March 21, 1964, Jerry married the love of his life, Margie Boehm, at the Cowden United Methodist Church, embarking on a journey of 61 years filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Together, they raised a family that was the center of his world: their children, Teresa (Gail) White, Rick (Julie) Florey, and Cheryl (Buzz) Reynolds. Jerry took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Kody Florey, Briana Sarver, Caleb Sarver, and Taylor Reynolds, as well as his step-grandchildren, Jake Adcock, Nikki Tucker, and Travis Reynolds. His great-grandchildren, Adleigh Florey, Deklan Sarver, Hadleigh Lewis, Scarlett Sarver, Allie Claar, and Harper Lewis, brought him immeasurable joy and were the light of his later years. Jerry also leaves behind sisters, Connie Stewart of Beecher City and Judy Kuhlman of Mason, sisters-in-law, Lucille Florey and Barbara Florey and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jerry in death were his parents; his sisters, Betty (Wilbur) Ricketts, Peggy Florey, and Joanne (Terry) Walls; his brothers, Bob Florey and Ronnie Florey, and brothers-in-law, Leonard Stewart and John Kuhlman. Jerry’s career spanned several industries, from Norge/Fedders Corporation in Effingham to The Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville, A.E. Staley Manufacturing in Decatur, and culminating in a 40-year tenure at P&H Manufacturing in Shelbyville. An outdoorsman at heart, Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to his garden, or crafting woodworks. Above all, the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was his most treasured pastime.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Hubbartt Cemetery in rural Beecher City. Memorials in Jerry’s honor may be made to HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospice and may be mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W.
