Phyllis A. (Keck) Huckstep 81, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 5:50 PM Wednesday August 6, 2025 in the Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mattoon, Illinois. She was born December 15, 1943 in Shelby County, Illinois the daughter of Charles and Nora “Evelyn (Cox) Keck. Phyllis was a retired telephone operator and accountant for the Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company in Mattoon, Illinois. She was a former member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Trowbridge, Illinois and St. Mary Of The Assumption Church in Neoga, Illinois, Former member of the Ladies Of The Moose Club of Mattoon, Illinois, The Eagles Club of Mattoon, Illinois, Pioneer Association with Consolidated Telephone Company of Mattoon, Illinois, she was the youngest person to retire from Illinois Consolidated and she was a member of the Charleston, Mattoon and Effingham Ostomy Support Group. She enjoyed wood working, sewing and embroidery.
Phyllis is survived by her brothers, James H. Keck of Long Beach, CA, and David L. (Patty) Keck of Neoga, IL; sister in law, Darlene Keck.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. Keck and N. Evelyn Cox; brothers, Gene R. Keck Charles Keck; and sisters, Karen L. Keck and Agnes Halcomb and her husband Huey Halcomb; niece, Kerry Keck.
Memorials are suggested to the Sara Bush Lincoln Hospice in Mattoon, Illinois or St. Patrick Cemetery in Trowbridge, Illinois.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 12, 2025 in the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church in Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, August 11, 2025 and a 7:00 PM Rosary in the Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois.
