Jvee Harner, 70, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Jvee was born on September 3, 1954, in Vandalia, IL as the son of Joseph P. and Jennie Alice Harner. He married Theresa Probst on July 6, 1985. A 1972 graduate of Brownstown High School, Jvee went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Greenville College, where he proudly played all four years for the Panthers basketball team. Jvee worked at Bluff Equipment in Bluff City, IL for ~50 years. Jvee was a lifelong Cubs fan and a devoted car enthusiast, always dreaming of owning a 1957 Chevy. He found great joy in spending time at the family farm, a place of peace and connection for him throughout his life. He also spent many years playing in local basketball and fastpitch softball leagues, where he formed lasting friendships and created memories that brought him joy for decades.

Jvee is survived by his wife, Theresa Harner of Effingham; son, Justin Harner of Chicago; daughter, Jenae (Kevin) Rach of Romeoville; sisters, Jenetia (Dave) Ruble of White Cloud, MI, Jorita (Gary) Cook of Rockford, MI, and Jo Alice (Steve) Dobbs of Vian, OK; brothers-in-law, Gary Barnes of San Diego, CA and Gary Winkleman of Springfield; sister-in-law, Idalee (Dick) Content of Rockford, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph P. Harner II; and sisters, Jarielle Winkleman and Javonda Barnes.
