Alberta L. Saegesser, 85, of Shumway, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Shumway United Methodist Church in Shumway, IL. Burial will be in Blue Point Baptist Cemetery in Effingham, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Alberta was born on February 25, 1940 in Shumway, IL, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Beals) Saegesser. Alberta worked as a claims processor for Horace Mann in Springfield, IL. She was a lifelong member of Shumway United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, quilting, and making baby quilts for all the nieces and nephews. Alberta was active at the Senior Center, Kluthe Center, and in the Shumway Community, which was important to her.
Alberta is survived by her siblings, Terry Saegesser and Rick Saegesser; cousins, Paul Saegesser, Ruth Saegesser, Mary Saegesser, Nancy Saegesser, and Scott Saegesser; 9 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Doris (Raymond) Smith and Mickey (Sharon) Saegesser; 1 nephew; and sister-in-law, Anne Saegesser.
