Kenneth “Kenny” Kos Miller age 90, of Wheeler passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Kenny’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Rev. Brad Henson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery, Wheeler, Illinois.
Kenny was born on September 10, 1934, in rural Jasper County, Illinois the son of John M. and Reta Beatrice (Busby) Miller. On December 18, 1954, Kenny married Mary Katherine Sinkler. She survives. After completing his bachelor’s degree at McKendree College, Kenny completed his master’s degree in divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. For fifty-two years, Kenny and Mary served numerous churches in the Southern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. In addition to serving the church, Kenny was a devoted husband, father and
grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and following the grandkids’ sports teams. In his younger years, he loved watching his kids play ball and was the coach for their little league team. Kenny was a member of the Illinois Great River Conference of the United Methodist Church and attended church at West Liberty United Methodist. In his free time, Kenny enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. He was an avid St. Louis Blues fan. He loved hockey and attending the games with his son, Kenny Lee and his grandson, Zach.
Kenny will be loved and remembered by his wife of seventy years, Mary K. Miller of Wheeler; children, Bill J. Miller, Deborah D. Miller, and Kenny Lee Miller, wife Anne all of Effingham; five grandchildren, Shaun R. Kleinschmidt of Robinson, Mary Diane Kleinschmidt of Effingham, Danielle White, husband Dustin of Neoga, Zach Miller of Effingham and Andrew Miller of Effingham; four great grandchildren, Levi Kleinschmidt, Drake Kleinschmidt, Mackie White and Derek White.
His parents John and Reta Miller, brother Max Miller, sister Luella King, aunt and uncle Buck and Edith Busby who were like second parents and brother-in-law Bob Sinkler preceded him in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Kenny may be made to the Preachers’ Aid Society and Benefit Fund of the United Methodist Church.
