Terry Allen Chapman, 65, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Crossroots Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the church. The family would love for you to wear your favorite sports attire to the visitation and/or funeral in honor of Terry’s love of the game. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Called College Scholarship in honor of Terry Chapman. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Terry was born on September 11, 1959, the son of Vern and Dorothy Chapman. He married Patti Weedon on June 26, 1982. Terry was a man with an insatiable desire to live out his faith in Jesus Christ in ways everyone could see. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, passing his deep love for Jesus to his entire family. He was a mentor, friend, and pastor to anyone he met, whether he knew their name or not. He was happiest with family and friends, teaching kids at church and on a basketball court. His legacy will live on through countless people.

Terry is survived by his wife, Patti Chapman; children, Ashley (Ted) Darden, Ryan (Dawn) Chapman, Vince (Hannah) Chapman, Terra Wouters, Joshua Chapman and Caleb Chapman; the lights of his life 16 grandchildren, Drew, Jedediah, Titus, Malachi, Dallas, Josiah, Elijah, Phoenix, Shiloh, Everest, Ember, Silas, Raiden, Brighton, Haylee, Jaydah; siblings, Carol (Pete) Mockapetris, Jaqueline (Nathaniel) Churchwell, Jeffrey (Helen) Chapman; brother-in-law, Rodney (Lisa) Weedon; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Dorothy Chapman; and sisters, Faith Newyear and Beverly Vallette.
