Allan L. Gillespie (68) of Teutopolis

Allan L. Gillespie, 68, of Teutopolis, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Friday at the church with a 6:30 pm Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorial donations may be given to the American Kidney Fund. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.
Allan was born May 3, 1957 in Effingham, the son of Eugene L. Gillespie and Bertha (Nosbisch) Gillespie Pruemer. He worked for over 30 years as a mechanic for Probst Amoco in Effingham and later retired from Kingery Printing. Allan was a member of St. Francis Church, the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874, and was a past president of the Men’s Holy Name Society. He cherished spending time with his family, creating lasting memories. Allan enjoyed talking on the CB radio, riding his motorcycle, making wine, and listening to music.
Allan is survived by his children, Matt (Maria) Gillespie of Gurnee, Kelly (Bryan) Chapman of Alton, and Laura Gillespie of Effingham; grandchildren, Ella Chapman, Leo, and Ethan Gillespie; brothers, Steven (Sandra) Gillespie and Dennis (Sharon) Gillespie, both of Teutopolis.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Roger Pruemer.
Allan’s family would like to give special thanks to Todd Smith and family for the use of their wheelchair ramp and also to the Teutopolis Civic Club for their generosity.
