Vera “Joyce” (Moore) Richardson, 82, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at StoneBridge Memory Care in Effingham, IL.
Private family graveside services will be held at Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham, IL. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Online condolences may be shared at

Joyce was born on July 10, 1943 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of John H. and Lillie M. Moore. She married Cecil “Kent” Richardson on October 30, 1971, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2021.
Joyce is survived by her brother, John H. (Kye) Moore Jr. of Sparks, NV; sister, Kathryn (Glenn) Wilde of Effingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother; and ten sisters.
Joyce graduated from Effingham High School and was a member of Blue Point Baptist Church, Effingham, where she accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was a senior in High School. She
enjoyed singing Gospel music. Family picnics were not complete until the family gathered to sing Gospel music. She also enjoyed antiques, crafts, knitting, painting, and scrapbooking. Joyce and her husband, Kent, enjoyed many vacations together, seeing breathtaking views and points of interest in various states. While living in Decatur, Joyce was a member of Temple Baptist Church and enjoyed all the activities there, the friendliest people in the world, and hearing the preaching of God’s Word.
