Doris V. Griffith, age 82 of Flora, Illinois, passed away at 5:05 pm, Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home in Flora.

Born on September 6, 1942, in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Joe Billy and C. Faun (Grogan) Harned. She married Jerry L. Griffith on July 20, 1962, in Salem, Illinois and they shared nearly 55 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 13, 2017. Doris dedicated over 40 years of her life to the beauty industry, owning and operating a cherished beauty shop in Flora that became a gathering place for friends and neighbors alike.

Doris’s passion extended beyond her career; she was deeply involved in her community and the lives of those around her. A longstanding member of the Trago Lake Fishing Club since the 1960s, her love for nature and camaraderie flourished there. Music was an integral part of Doris’s life, having sung since the tender age of 9. She brought joy to many through her solo performances in the church choir at Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church, and she was also actively involved with the Bethlehem Christian Church, rural Flora. Every week, she would participate in singing at the Edgewood Opry, further showcasing her love for music.

An avid bowler, Doris spent over 20 years bowling on various teams, embracing both competition and companionship that the sport afforded her. Doris and, Jerry, enjoyed escaping the cold winters of Illinois for 25 years, creating beautiful memories together in sunny Florida.

Doris is survived by her loving children: J.D. Griffith of Flora and Eric (Susan) Griffith of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren: including Doug (Ruthie) Griffith of Flora, Denise (Jacob) Rutger of Orchardville, Michael Frisco of Tampa, Florida, and Haley Schimanski of New York; 5 great-grandchildren: Jacen Robert Rutger, Jackson Paul Griffith, Bradley Austin Griffith, Adriena Griffith, and Ellie Rutger. Additionally, she is survived by her sister: Donna (Scott) Hargis of Flora.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Danny (Lou) Harned.
