Thomas Anthony “Tom” Bushur 73, of Mattoon, Illinois passed away at 6:06 AM Sunday July 6, 2025 in his residence.
He was born July 12, 1951 in Mattoon, Illinois the son of Paul and Betty Jane (Kaufman) Bushur. Tom married Julia A. Fifer in 1993 and 2017 in Mattoon, Illinois and she survives . He was the owner/operator of Bushur Concrete in Mattoon, Illinois, and was a member of the Praireland Frontiersman of Sullivan, Illinois and Alcoholics Anonymous in Mattoon, Illinois. Tom was a very conscientious worker taking pride in a job well done. He was a role model/teacher of all the young workers he had, teaching his trade, self respect, pride in a job well done and treated them as if they were family.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Bushur; children, Faith Cutler (Mike ) of Sullivan, Illinois, Cody Mae Ruff (Mitch) of Altamont, Illinois, Mark Hardesty of Mattoon, Illinois, Levi Bushur of Mattoon, Illinois, Elijah Bushur of Champaign, Illinois and Gracie Hanley (Lyle) Mattoon, Illinois; Thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sisters, Krista Beverlin (Tom) of Newton, Illinois, Patty Bushur of Martinsville, Illinois and Paula Bushur of Effingham, Illinois.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ervin Bushur, Gregory Bushur and Aloysius Bushur.
Memorials are suggested to the Mattoon High School Building Trades.
As per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday July 15, 2025 in the Rest Haven Cemetery of Mattoon, Illinois. All motorcycles are welcome to escort Tom to the cemetery from the Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois leaving the funeral home at 10:15 AM.
