Born on May 12, 1950, in Wood River, Illinois, Larry was the son of Harold Gene and Evelyn (Benner) Ferguson. He grew up in the Cowden area, where he formed the foundation of a life characterized by warmth, dedication, and service. Larry graduated from Cowden High School in 1970 and subsequently answered the call of duty by serving his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he returned to his roots in the Cowden/Beecher City area and established himself as a skilled welder. For 31 years, he worked as a welder with the United Auto Workers Local 751 at Caterpillar, earning the respect and friendship of his colleagues before retiring in 2006. On July 22, 1983, Larry’s life was further enriched when he married Kathy Feldhake at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shumway. Their union was blessed with 41 years of love, companionship, and shared dreams. Together, they navigated life’s journey with grace and unwavering support for one another. Kathy remains to honor his memory, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and gentle spirit.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dwight Kistner, and sister Kathy Berry.

In his younger years, Larry enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was known for his love of playing poker and horseshoes, and he delighted in visiting historical sites.
