Michael Gene Baumann, 65, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Beecher City, IL, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2025, in his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Sid Hutchison officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Hubbartt Cemetery, Beecher City, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to St. Jude, Saving Orphaned Animals, or Disabled American Veterans.
Michael was born on April 20, 1960, in St. Louis, MO and was the son of Gerald Dale and Marilyn Jean (Taylor) Baumann. Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Press Operator at Fedders in Effingham, IL. Mike always enjoyed fishing, gardening, and animals. Michael could often be seen driving around town in his blue and chrome Chevy Silverado. He attended Holland Community Church.
Mike is survived by his companion of 37 years, Carol Sarver of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Genia Reitzel (Daryl) of Rock Falls, IL and Ladonna Huie (Jim) of Collinsville, IL; brothers, Jerry Baumann (Teri) of Fair Grove, MO and Randy Baumann of Vandalia, IL; “sister-in-law”, Kimberly Rueter of Heartville, IL; “brother-in-law”, David Sarver (Tonya) of Shelbyville, IL; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sandy Smallhorn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Marilyn Baumann; and nephew, Nathanial Sarver.
