Carol Marie (Phillips) Arnold, 86, of Watson, IL, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Watson Methodist Church in Watson. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Watson Methodist Church, Watson, IL. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Carol was born on October 2, 1938, in Effingham, IL. She was the daughter of Eugene and Marie Phillips of Watson, IL. She married Robert “Bob” Arnold of Watson, IL on March 24, 1962 at Loy
Chapel Church. Carol was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a member of the Watson Methodist Church. She worked at World Color in Effingham for 21 years. She loved watching her boys and loved ones play various sports throughout her life. One of her fondest memories was going to California to watch her boys on the Fresno State basketball team. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed line dancing. She could often be found watching the Golden State Warriors or Tiger Woods on TV. Carol also spent countless hours making beautiful quilts for family and friends.

Carol is survived by her husband, Bob of Watson; son, Mitch Arnold of Effingham; grandchildren, Tyler and Trent Arnold of Watson, Dylan Arnold of Effingham, and Dydra Arnold of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Aubriella Rhodes, Xander and Zion Arnold; siblings, Maxine Lark, Sharon Phillips, Jerry (Gwen) Phillips, and Tammy (Allen) Birch; in-laws, Barb (Paul) Fearday, Vicki Bond and Thomas “Bill” Arnold; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd Arnold; in-laws, James and Glenna Arnold; brothers, Lewis Phillips and Emmet Phillips; brothers-in-law, James and Jack Arnold; and sister-in-law, Delores “Sis” Turner.
