Dorothy M. Millsap age 89, of Neoga, formerly Newton, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Newton at a later date.

Dorothy was born on January 19, 1936, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois the daughter of Lavatt and Myrtle Irene (Eagleson) Pierson. On December 9, 1995, Dorothy married Harold Curtis Millsap. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2013. For many years, Dorothy was the secretary in purchasing at Richland Memorial Hospital. She later became the secretary for the Richland County Health Department. She then served as the bookkeeper for the Arndt’s Store in Newton until her retirement. In her early years, Dorothy served as a girl scout, boy scout and 4-H leader. She was a member of the RMH Auxiliary and active in the church. She enjoyed camping and dancing. In her free time, Dorothy had many artistic pursuits, including painting, knitting, sewing and crochet. A graduate of East Richland High School with the Class of 1954, Dorothy loved learning, making this a life long pursuit. She enjoyed writing and reading. She continued her education with college courses at both Olney Central College and Southern Illinois University. She also completed the Dale Carnegie Course. Dorothy embraced technology and was proud to be thought of as “tech savvy.”

Dorothy will be loved and remembered by her children, Ann Croy, husband Loyd of Casey; Chris Weiler, wife Debbie of Jerseyville, IL; Rick Weiler, wife Bette of Newton; Dave Weiler of Olney and Tom Weiler, wife Millie of Knoxville, TN; eight grandchildren Jenna, Elena Wooff, husband Jon, Andy Weiler, Quenten Weiler, Chelsy Rich, husband Jag, Tommy Weiler, Leanne Weiler, and Carlene Weiler; four great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Matthew, Samantha and Emma Wooff; and sister-in-law Marianne Pierson of Peru, IL.

Her parents, daughter-in-law, Carol Weiler, grandson, Michael Weiler and brother, William Pierson preceded her in death.
