The Illinois unemployment rate for April remained at 4.8%, the same rate as in March. Just over 4,000 more people had jobs in April in the state than in March.
There were more jobs in the Private Education and Health Services sector and the Leisure and Hospitality sector in April. Decreases were seen in the Professional and Business Services sector, the Manufacturing sector, and the Other Services sector.
Compared to a year ago, total nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 36,100 jobs.
