Clay County board members Tuesday discussed how to fill a vacancy on the board since Chris Rinehart left the board to serve as Mayor of Louisville. Mary Cisne was appointed to replace Rinehart in the seat from District G.
The Board reappointed Ariane Souder to the 911 Board, and State’s Attorney Phillip Givens discussed the appointment by the judge of Assistant States Attorney Cole Hildebrand as Jasper County Public Defender, but still will serve as conflicts public defender for Clay County should Public Defender Chris Elliott not be able to represent a client. Kelsy Smith has been hired as Assistant States Attorney.
The Clay board voted to support the resolution to oppose House Bill 2827, the Homeschooling Bill. It was also agreed to reappoint Larry Kuhns to the Edgewood Bi-County Fire Protection District for a three-year term. Also, County Engineer Darin Koelm reported that Campground Lane Bridge construction is nearing completion, and that the design of Frazier Bridge is complete but has not been let for bids.
