There were 2.7 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending May 4, 2025.

Statewide, the average temperature was 59.2 degrees, 2.6 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.29 inches, 0.33 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 9 percent short, 53 percent adequate, and 37 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 14 percent short, 60 percent adequate, and 24 percent surplus.

Corn planted reached 32 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 44 percent. Corn emerged reached 8 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 11 percent.

Soybeans planted reached 33 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 34 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 10 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 7 percent.

Winter wheat headed reached 23 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 31 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 50 percent good, and
11 percent excellent.
