The name of the woman killed in Sunday’s house fire in Newton has been released.
Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer said the woman was identified as Cynthia Sidwell, 69, of Newton.
Sidwell was fatally injured in a fire reported shortly before 6pm Sunday at 508 Liberty Street in Newton. Firefighters were working to put the fire out when Sidwell’s body was found in her bedroom.
