North Clay school board members Wednesday took time to recognize retiring personnel and junior high track team state qualifiers.
The Board renewed the district’s insurance policy with Snedeker Risk Management, and approved student handbook changes. The tentative amended budget for the current school year was placed on hold for final action at the June board meeting.
Many personnel moves were approved, including: a summer custodian position was posted; a resignation was accepted from Karen Williamson as of the end of the school year; John Frech and Adam Cox were hired as high school co-athletic maintenance workers; Morgan Cox was hired as high school Pep Club co-sponsor; Carrie Kuhl was hired as high school summer school 2026 Program Instructor; Malorie Craig’s resignation as 6th grade volleyball coach was accepted; Brian Swope’s resignation as junior high school track and field team volunteer assistant was accepted; Kim Harrison was hired as 8th grade volleyball coach and Michele Ruesken was hired as 7th grade volleyball coach; Kelly Stortzum was hired as boys JV basketball coach; Josie VanBlaricum was hired as an elementary teacher; Ethan Kuenstler’s resignation as boys fresh/soph basketball was accepted but he was retained as a volunteer coach; a paraprofessional position was posted; Allie Krutsinger’s resignation as junior high cheer coach was accepted as was her resignation as fresh/soph volleyball coach; and the administration was authorized to fill other non-certified positions.
The Board also heard about installation of an environmental sensor as a trial system in one of the restrooms at the high school. The sensor is designed to detect humidity levels, loud noises, carbon dioxide, and effects on air quality such as smoke, including vapes.
