A Cowden resident was arrested following an incident on the Altamont blacktop Wednesday night.
57-year-old Darryl L. Russell was taken into custody about a mile north of Altamont. Russell was found with one of his feet caught beneath the wheel of a vehicle. The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported Russell became combative and was taken into custody. He was taken for examination to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, then was taken to jail. Russell was being held on counts of aggravated battery of a peace officer, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, criminal damage to property, and DUI, along with two traffic charges.
