The South Central School Board has set graduation dates.
The school district will return to a Friday night graduation at the high school. It will be held on May 15th at seven pm. Middle School Graduation will be on May 14th at 5:30 pm.
The board agreed to continue contracting with Priority Power through June 2031. After a solar system for the district failed to materialize, the school district will now look at entering a community solar contract that could cut their Ameren bill by 15-percent.
The board agreed to issue new working cash surety bonds.
Donations will be made to the local ball fields used by the school district for sporting events. $3,000 will go to both the Kinmundy Lions and Kinmundy Sports Complex, with $1,500 going to the Farina Park.
Bills will be sought on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning project for the South Central high school gym.
The board acted on a number of personnel issues. Lia Rigdon was hired as a certified staff employee for the next school year. Braden Wright was named head girls basketball coach for next year. Shelly Reynolds and Beth Smith were named co-cheer sponsors for the middle school for the next school year. Jacob Skibinski was hired as paid assistant track coach for this season. Erin Engel was approved as an unpaid volunteer assistant track coach at the middle school.
The board accepted several resignations. Kara Schukar will step down as a certified employee effective March 27th. Madi Lybarger resigned as a certified employee at the end of the school year as well as paid foreign language club sponsor, head middle school volleyball coach next year and as paid assistant volleyball coach for the current school year. Tony Farthing resigned as head fifth and sixth grade basketball coach.
