Greenup resident Karl Kimble will spend the next several years in prison for possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse material.

The 55-year-old Kimble was arrested last May. The dissemination of child pornography count is a Class X felony, punishable by up to 30 years in prison. Kimble was sentenced to 19 years in prison. He pled guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to four years in prison on each of those two counts. Kimble was given three years mandatory supervised release on each of the two possession charges, and those will be served consecutively, not together, once he completes the prison sentences.

Investigators from the office of Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul conducted a search of Kimble’s residence in Greenup. Kimble was taken into custody after investigators discovered evidence of child sexual abuse material. Kimble was a bus driver, driving a route for the Charleston school district.

Raoul’s office, with a Federal grant, runs the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that investigates child exploitation crimes and trains law enforcement agencies.
