A Cumberland County man has been charged following a drug bust Tuesday in Jewett.
40-year-old Harvey E. Starwalt, Jr. faces charges of manufacturing of controlled substance, possession of controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, and possession of methamphetamine.
Starwalt is accused of manufacturing between 400 and 900 grams of a substance known as dimethyltryptamine, or DMT, a controlled substance. That’s a Class X felony offense, meaning mandatory prison time if he’s convicted. Cumberland County State’s Attorney Bryan Robbins said Starwalt will make his initial court appearance on the charges today.
Authorities say Tuesday’s arrest is a result of the drug bust that occurred on Willow Street in Effingham in recent days that led to the arrest of Allen Matlock on similar charges.
