Two people were injured when vehicles collided at US Route 40 and Illinois Route 128 between Altamont and St. Elmo. The crash happened at 1:30pm Saturday.

Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Brandon Beccue of Edgewood was southbound on Route 128 and stopped at the intersection with Route 40, waited for a westbound vehicle to clear the intersection, then headed south through the intersection and was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by 25-year-old Shelbe Summers of Vandalia.

Both drivers were injured and were taken by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Beccue was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection.
