An Effingham man is in custody after his arrest Monday for various drug offenses.
38-year-old Allen G. Matlock was taken into custody for delivery of 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine, possession of 15 to 100 grams of meth, delivery of 50 to 200 grams of controlled substance, manufacture of 400 to 900 grams of a controlled substance, and possession of 400 to 900 grams of a controlled substance.
On Monday, investigators from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Effingham City Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration were assisted by the ILEAS Special Response Team in executing a search warrant at 108 South Willow in Effingham.
The search warrant was the result of a joint narcotics investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office, Police Department, and Drug Enforcement Administration.
Execution of the warrant resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of crystal methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, a DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) extraction laboratory, a large quantity of DMT, and other controlled substances. Additionally, investigators located evidence consistent with the manufacture and distribution of narcotics.
The sheriff’s office, police department, and DEA were assisted at the scene by the Effingham Fire Department and the Illinois State Police Clandestine Laboratory Response Team.
Police Chief Kurt Davis and County Sheriff Paul Kuhns noted that this case highlights the continued cooperation between their agencies and other regional partners to protect the community.
