Teutopolis village board members Wednesday voted to start the negotiations process to purchase land for the development of a new subdivision. The subdivision would be located within the proposed TIF 3 District. The target area is on the west edge of the village, south across the railroad tracks.

The Village is desirous of keeping residential property available, now that Prairie View Subdivision is filled up.

The Board also approved a professional services agreement with PGAV Planners to handle TIF services for the village.

The Board purchased a three-quarter-ton truck from Roy Schmidt Honda for use by the street department, approved a bid from Double D Sign for an electronic sign to be placed in front of the Village Hall, and approved a bid from Zerrusen Masonry for brickwork around the sign.

Board members tabled award of a bid for fencing the sewer lift stations and lagoon, but approved the Appointment Ordinance for the fiscal year that will begin May 1. Action on a bid for repairs to Harvester Street was tabled, and Milano and Grunloh Engineers will research water and sewer connections for Ruholl Trailer Sales.

The Board agreed to borrow funds from the Illinois EPA from a water supply loan program to remove cast iron water lines. Also, Milano and Grunloh will decide what is needed for new sidewalks along Main Street from John Street to St. Francis Township Road along the north side of Route 40, then will seek bids on the work. It was also decided to seek federal funds through Congressman Mike Bost’s office for sewer lagoon improvements, and to agree to conditions of a Safe Routes to School easement at 312 South John Street.
