Altamont City Council members Monday approved private development contracts with three entities.
One is for the redevelopment of Deb’s Catering, severely damaged by fire in recent months. A previous agreement is being ended, and a new one is beginning. The business will receive 50% of its taxes back.
Another is for RDM Designs Custom Cabinetry, which is redeveloping the former Altamont Independent building at 1 West Washington on the triangle in downtown Altamont. The Council extended the agreement to August 26 so re-roofing work can be completed.
The third agreement is for renovation work being done at A&H Auto Repair and Sales. The developers will receive $25,000.
Council members approved a variance for a duplex at 107 and 109 West Washington, allowing construction of a deck on the rear of the structure. It was also decided to advertise for mowing bids for 2026.
It had been thought that Schuetzenfest Committee members would attend the meeting to discuss moving the celebration from the fairgrounds into downtown Altamont, but no one was present from the committee.
