 Area Tornado Confirmations

The National Weather Service – Lincoln Office investigated the Thursday afternoon and evening severe storms, and has confirmed 3 reports of tornadoes in our area.  They were:

Edgewood/Mason Tornado, Feb 19, 2:59 – 3:07 PM
EF Scale: EF0
Est. Peak Winds: 75 mph
Track Length: 3.0 miles
Max Width: 25 yards
Injuries/Deaths: 0/0
Summary:  The tornado touched down just south of the Clay and Effingham county line, near the Edgewood Rd. curve. Damage was limited to tree branches.

Summary:  Storm chaser video of brief touch down in an open field about 2 miles southwest of Wheeler.

Bible Grove Tornado, Feb 19, 6:15 – 6:26 PM

Track Length: 4.1 miles
Max Width: 75 yards
Injuries/Deaths: 0/0
Summary: Much of the damage was concentrated at a farmstead along the Clay/Effingham county line east of 1800th St. Metal from the top of a silo was blown off, and a barn was damaged with roof pieces blown northeast for about a half mile.  Tracks through corn stubble in fields was found until reaching E. 200th Ave. west of county road 2200.
