The extension of the east-west runway is the project getting the most attention at Effingham County Regional Airport.
Another big part of the project, though, is the addition of a hangar building.
Members of the Effingham County Airport Commission today heard that the hangar building will arrive at the airport by the end of next week.
As for the runway extension, that work is on winter shutdown. Work might re-open by May 1st.
There was also information shared today on Phase 2 of the airport apron expansion. County Engineer Greg Koester also shared about a tower east of the airport tall enough that it will be evaluated to make sure it won’t affect the airport.
