The U-S Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that Republican U-S Representative Mike Bost can file a lawsuit to challenge Illinois election laws.
Capitol News Illinois reports the court ruled seven to two that Bost has standing because he is a candidate for office.
Bost filed a lawsuit in 2022 challenging an Illinois law that allows mail-in ballots to be counted for 14 days after Election Day. Lower courts had ruled Bost did not have standing because he failed to show how the law harmed him.
Liberal justices on the bench warned the ruling will open the door to a flood of lawsuits about election laws.
