Effingham County Airport Commissioners heard Wednesday that the new hangar building should be arriving by the end of January or the first of February.

Airport Commission Chairman Ken Wohltman believes the building should be turned over to the County by the first of June.

Other project updates: the letting for the airport apron expansion is set for April, and grading work should begin soon, along with remaining work on the north-south runway.

There was some discussion of whether there would be benefits to annexing the airport into the Effingham city limits, including a lower fire rating and lower insurance costs.
