 Altamont Resident Sentenced to Prison for Possession of Meth

Altamont resident Valek Bernahl has been sentenced to two years in prison for possession of methamphetamine.

The 26-year-old Bernahl was taken into custody after failing to return to custody from furlough. He was originally arrested in 2020 and was placed on probation, then was again placed on probation, then was sentenced to jail time in 2025. He was again convicted at the end of the year and was sentenced to the prison term, along with mandatory supervised release, and was given credit for time served while awaiting disposition of his case.
