Altamont City Council members Monday welcomed new commissioner Zain Parker to the body.

Parker was sworn in to succeed Jason Rippetoe, who resigned due to work commitments. A presentation was made to Rippetoe for his service as both commissioner and as mayor.

Parker will serve until the next city election, when he can seek a full term.

Also Monday, the Altamont council extended a TIF agreement with the Altamont Masonic Lodge for the installation of replacement windows. The Council also approved two payment requests from Kieffer Brothers Construction of Mt. Carmel for water main installation and a separate pay request from Kieffer Brothers for the same project, as well as a payment to Milano and Grunloh for engineering work on the water main work.

Council members also approved payment to Axon Enterprises for tasers for the police department. The $10,000 payment is grant-funded.
