One person was killed in a Saturday morning crash north of Mattoon involving seven vehicles.
43-year-old Matthew A. Siemer of Chicago was fatally injured in the crash, which occurred at 10am Saturday on I-57 southbound at the 193 mile marker. Siemer’s wife was injured and was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment. Illinois State Police report the crash involved five commercial motor vehicles and two passenger vehicles. Traffic was routed off the interstate at the 203 mile marker. All lanes were re-opened at 5:35pm.
Siemer served as executive director of Mobile Care Chicago.
