Casey Adam is leaving the Altamont school district as of the end of the school year.

Adam has served the Altamont district as superintendent for five years. Her resignation will be effective June 30, 2026.

In a statement, Adam said, “This decision is entirely personal and reflects a desire to relocate out of state.  This has nothing to do with any concerns about the District, its leadership team, staff, students, or community—all of whom I hold in the highest regard. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and for the opportunity to serve alongside such talented educators and supportive families.”

The Altamont board said it “has expressed its appreciation for her leadership and wishes her well in her next chapter.”

The Board indicated it will immediately begin the process of launching a search for a successor to ensure continuity of leadership and minimal disruption for students and staff.

The Altamont board also passed a resolution declaring its intention to issue $3,350,000 in working cash fund bonds. Board President Dale Laue said the issuance is to fund district facilities projects that include a six-classroom addition to Altamont Grade School, the addition of a concession pavilion, demo and new construction of a storage building south of the grade school, and a drainage and repaving project at Altamont Community High School.

Also Monday, Altamont seniors Joel Bauer, Ben Osterholtz, Clayton Haarmann and Brayden Schnarre shared their plans following graduation as they all plan to enter military service.

The Board passed a tax levy calling for an 11% increase in equalized assessed valuation. Adam reported on the status of the Curriculum Committee’s work to find updated materials for high school Biology, Earth Science, Phonics, and Weight Training. A work comp policy renewal through Previsor was approved for $33,572.

The Board accepted the resignation of Rhiannon Boehm as grade school Art teacher at the end of the school year and Lindsey Durkin was employed as a grade school paraprofessional. A leave was approved for an employee, and changes were approved to the high school course catalog.
