Law Enforcement lets us know that as of 9:30 a.m., they believe one of the railroad crossing gates has a malfunction, causing most of the R.R. crossings in Effingham to be closed/gates-down for vehicles travelling North-South and vice-versa.
This is affecting at least the Willow, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and Maple Street Crossings.
Railroad officials estimate a repair crew may arrive around 11:00 a.m. today to work on repairs.
The Banker Street and Raney Street Overpasses are recommended, since trains are still coming through.
